I bring you good news!!!!
On Monday November 16th the Culver City Council voted unanimously in closed session to approve the Habitat build on Globe Ave in Culver City that will now go for a public vote on the floor of Culver City Council on Monday December 14th!!!
The Globe Ave build will be on the consent docket. The Council will have the option of voting on it with a whole group of items that do not need further discussion at the beginning of the meeting. If that happens, we are approved and technically really no further comments are needed. However, Habitat anticipates it will be pulled because of the high community interest (thanks to your advocacy!!!) and 2016 being an election year. In that case, Erin and I are prepared to speak. Regardless, we will make sure the Council knows how many people are there in support of Habitat.
We would really like a big turnout to this, so if you can, please come to the Culver City Council Chambers at 9770 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA on Monday December 14th at 7pm.
Erin has also requested from all those who attend to provide a written letter which will go into the Council minutes.
If you are or know of residents from Culver City, please, please, encourage them to be there! Again–we are not asking people to come and speak, only to be there in large numbers to show community support for the build and to submit a letter of anticipation and appreciation. We want to keep this positive. Oh! And if you have a Habitat shirt, wear it!
Please let me know if you can attend, and if you know of others who are coming, I would like to know how many to anticipate.
You should know that a few of us on the team have been applying some internal pressure from a few key people in the City Council this fall, which we do believe has helped push this forward before the year’s end. It appears that there was a lot of delay in the city staff following through which delayed the timeline from June, not the City Council.
Although this has taken what seems like forever, WE ARE FINALLY HERE, to the moment we have been anticipating all year long. How appropriate for Advent. Thanks be to God!!
Advent Joy,
Rev. Heidi
