Our own Pacific Presbytery’s Earth Care Team strongly endorses a “KEEP THE LAW” vote on Senate Bill 1137. SB 1137 prohibits new oil and gas wells within 3,200 feet of a home, school, nursing home, or hospital. The bill also requires oil companies to develop a leak detection system and provide a detailed response plan to a leak.
Your “KEEP THE LAW” vote upholds PCUSA’s Social Witness Policy by creating a public health buffer around sensitive sites and protecting those living near such sites from asthma, respiratory diseases, preterm births, and cancer. “KEEP THE LAW” ensures that our neighbors can live with clean air free from toxins. Our children, grandchildren, and future generations are watching. Please vote “KEEP THE LAW” on SB 1137 on November 5th!
