Clergy Dialogue – Thursday, August 31, 2017

Dear Clergy in the Presbytery of the Pacific:
With the unfolding of the harrowing events in Charlottesville, Virginia, a week and a half ago, and the way in which the evil of white supremacy has been explicitly and implicitly sanctioned even at the highest forms of government, we as leaders of the church of Jesus Christ know that the church must make a strong stand on the side of morality and justice in this moment, both within our churches and outside in the public square.
Pacific Presbytery is blessed to be one of the most racially diverse presbyteries in the PC(USA) and we believe this is an opportunity as well as is a calling for us in this moment in time, to come together, to pray, process, and discern what the movement of the Holy Spirit is among us.
To that end, we would like to invite you to a clergy gathering on Thursday, August 31st, from 10am-12pm, at Bel Air Presbyterian Church 16221 Mulholland Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90049.
We believe the only way forward is to have frank, open and honest conversations with one another. We seek to create a space of truth-telling and prophetic witness in this moment. We are grateful to Bel Air for offering their facilities to host.
Please RSVP if you are able to attend to heidi@pacificpresbytery.org.
Grace and Peace,
Heidi
