Job Opening: Christ the King Lutheran Church (ELCA Ecumenical Partner)

Christ the King Lutheran Church is looking for a Parish Administrator who can share their gifts of communication and creativity in all our communications and work with the community.  We are paying $25/hr for 10-15 hours a week for in office work, creating bulletins, promotional flyers, and working with contractors.  Email Deacon David Webb for the full job description and more information ctktorrance@gmail.com 

Parish Administrator at Christ the King

The Parish Administrator will support and encourage the ministry of the Christ the King Lutheran community with their gifts and talents for organization, communication, creativity, and vision.

Office and Communications Ministry

The Parish Administrator will:

  • Create the Bulletins for Sunday worship and special services
    • Getting readings and other worship elements from Sundays and Seasons online library.
    • Work with the Rostered Leader to incorporate all necessary elements and edits
  • Collaborate with Deacon and send the weekly email on Thursday
  • Create Zoom meetings for worship and special services
  • Be in charge of database work
    • Follow up with visitors and prospective members
    • Update age and ethnicity demographics
    • Complete Form A for the ELCA
    • Maintain ecclesial records of baptisms, births, deaths, communion, membership, and funerals.
  • Create and maintain the church calendar
    • Update with personal work schedule/church office hours
  • Promote events
    • Social media posts
    • Make flyers
    • Create contact list and pass along flyers to other churches and organizations in the community.
  • Send out churchwide mailings
  • Order office supplies
  • Participate in a weekly or every other week staff meeting

Treasurer/Financial Committee Support

The Parish Administrator will:

  • Code and forward bills to accounting service
  • Additional duties to be determined based upon membership

Other Ministries of Christ the King (LSS, Bible Study, Property, Council etc.) Support

The Parish Administrator will:

  • Be a resource person who can help with:
    • Promotion: social media, flyers, and other communications
    • Contacting contractors or specialists
      • Soliciting bids
      • Coordinating in building presence for contractors to be onsite
  • The Rostered Leader (Deacon) at Christ the King is this Position’s supervisor
    • Weekly submit hours to the deacon and then to book keeper
  • This position reports to the council and rostered leader
  • Paid training will be provided by church council and rostered leader.

Employment Details

  • The position will be probationary with an evaluation at 6 months to make it permanent.
    • There will be an informal three month evaluation and formal six month evaluation.
  • Compensation will be at $25/hr (negotiable) for 10- 15  hours a week.
  • This position requires at least three days of in office work a week.  9AM-12PM
  • 1hr of paid sick leave for 30hrs worked with a max of 40hours of paid sick leave is the California Mandatory minimum for part time employees.
  • Paid training will begin first week of employment.
  • Mileage reimbursement will be offered for church errands (but not home-work commute).
