According to a July 2019 U.N. Report we are in the worst refugee crisis in history; an unprecedented 70 million people have been forced to flee
from their homes around the world. The majority of people at the
Southern border are refugees from El Salvador, Honduras and
Guatemala, with some of the highest homicide rates in the world. Our
government is currently violating U.S. asylum law and international treatises by not allowing people to claim asylum at a U.S. Port of Entry and
have their asylum claims processed in a timely and efficient manner
through the “ Remain in Mexico” policy. See video HERE

Pacific and San Gabriel Presbyteries are on the front lines of developing a compassionate, justice-focused response in the Southern California region. We have hired a new Immigrant Accompaniment Organizer, Kristi Van Nostran , in partnership with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and the
Mateo 25 Socal Movement and many ecumenical partners to develop a
support network for sponsors to welcome refugee families into our
hearts, homes and churches.

A shout out to Covenant Presbyterian Church, who is currently
hosting a political asylee family from Honduras in their church!!
If you are interested in getting involved, we strongly encourage you to
come to our education and training event on either August 23rd
(weekday) OR August 24th (weekend) Kristi will be speaking at the
