Church Burnings: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) Reaches Out

Thanks to friends like you who have reached out to see what Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is doing —  Please follow website for updates: http://pda.pcusa.org/.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is reaching out to our ecumenical and other partners to formulate a coordinated response to the recent incidents of church fires at black churches in southern states. The fires have occurred since the mass shooting in Charleston and while some are thought to have been from electrical or other unintentional causes, others are being investigated as arson. The National Council of Churches and National VOAD are among partners involved in this effort.

In the mid-late 1990’s, PDA responded to a similar spate of church burnings; our response included help with rebuilding the churches, offering spiritual and emotional care, and work towards racial reconciliation. PDA will continue to stay abreast of this situation. An account has been activated for those who wish to offer support financially.  Please indicate on check on when making electronic donation account DR #000126 for burned churches.  You may also Text “PDA” to 20222 to donate $10.00
