To the Presbytery of the Pacific:
Presbyterians are delivering a swift and effective response to the earthquake in Haiti. The PCUSA has made an emergency donation of $100,000 through your One Great Hour of Sharing offering. PDA is mobilizing an on-the-ground response through our partners, ACT Action by Churches Together .
The PCUSA has mission personnel and church groups currently in Haiti. We have received reports that Hôpital Sainte Croix (Holy Cross Hospital) in Leogane, a major focus of Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mission in Haiti for decades, collapsed in the Jan. 12 earthquake.
On PDA's website you will find updates on details of crisis response situation reports PCUSA mission personnel and mission teams status and updates worship resources online donation how to connect to PDA's RIN (rapid information network).
Also, sign up for the Haitian Mission Network to receive immediate updates on the situation in Haiti:
On the ground reports are available onPCUSA Mission Co-Worker Mark Hare's blog.
Food and fuel are already becoming scarce. Mark writes, "Pray for us, that we will be up to the task."
Remember: 97% of what you give through PDA goes directly to help the people of Haiti. Please take a special offering this Sunday. The most effective way to help is to pray, keep updated, and make an online donation. Grace and Peace.
